Learning to create more original and aesthetically pleasing images
I have spent the first half of my life* doing conventional stuff like going to school (maths and more maths), becoming a computer programmer, starting a business, then another, and another, and in general having fun doing things I was fairly good at.
Instead of doing more of the same; now it’s the time for something different.
I have been taking photography seriously, as a hobby, for about 4 or 5 years. I have acceptable left-brain skills of camera handling, following the basic rules of composition, and am a black-belt at photoshop. My technically competent photos sometimes win competitions at my local camera club (SPPC), but I want to do more.
The purpose of this blog is to record my journey learning to create more original and aesthetically pleasing images. I hope the blog is interesting to other people, and I would really appreciate comments and suggestions as I go forward, formally documenting 10,000 hours of photography.
To get involved, please like or connect with me through one or more of the following social medial channels in the side-bar to the right of this message – thank you.
Objectives of the Blog
- Purely self-indulgent goal of enjoying my photography and becoming the best I can be
- Sharing what I learn along the way with people who might be interested
- Testing the theory that 10,000 hours of deliberate practice can make an expert.
I’m not starting from nowhere, but trust me, I have no innate talent or aesthetic sensitivity.
* I am over 50 but have good genetics and an irrepressibly optimistic personality!
