This post shows the images used in my successful AFIAP application. It is hoped that this is useful in showing the standard of images that can get through, and the process required to gain this distinction.

AFIAP Distinction Requirements
Broadly speaking the AFIAP distinction is the same level as the LRPS (see: “My Successful LRPS Resubmission“) or CPAGB (“My Failed CPAGB Submission“), i.e., the first level of photographic competence, but is awarded by the international body, Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique, rather than the UK specific Royal Photographic Society or Photographic Alliance of Great Britain; and is assessed on the basis of acceptances in international salons.
There is no requirement to produce a panel for assessment, as is the case for the LRPS; or to have 10 images assessed and scored on a single day as a CPAGB.
Specifically, the Artist FIAP, must have (as of 29th June 2021):
- taken part with success in international salons under FIAP Patronage for at least 1year; i.e. his first FIAP-recognised acceptance must have occurred at least 1 year ago
- success in at least 15 international salons under FIAP Patronage in atleast 8 different countries; a Circuit has to be considered as a single salon
- obtained at least 40 acceptances with at least 15 different works in internationalsalons under FIAP Patronage
- 10% of the required acceptances in salons under FIAP Patronage have to be gained in “Print” salons, multiple acceptances for one work in a Circuit will only count as one acceptance.
AFIAP Portfolio
In addition to the 4 criteria above, a candidate must submit a portfolio of 5 high resolution images.
Each portfolio images must have been accepted in at least 3 different salons.
FIAP retain the right to use these for certain publicity purposes.
